We’re number 1 among anesthesiology journals
Each year, Thomson Reuters publishes the ISI Impact Factors. The impact factor measures the frequency that an “average” article in a journal has been cited in a particular year or period. It is calculated by dividing the current year citations to the number of source items published in a particular journal during the previous two years. Libraries use the number to determine which journals they should buy. Researchers use the number to determine which journal they might use to first submit an article for possible publication. Advertisers might even use the number to determine where their advertisements should be placed. Like anything in life, there are tricks that journals can use to bump up their impact factor. There are also other indices that can be used and are published. To read more about impact factor, click here. For some other free essays on the topic, click here. Yesterday, 28 June 2011, the 2010 impact and other factors were published. Using impact factor, Anesthesiology was #1 among all anesthesiology journals.
The top articles that were cited is probably more interesting than an actual number. Of course, many would agree that all articles in Anesthesiology are interesting. It is hoped that page2 helps more readers to find more articles in the journal interesting.
Congratulations, Anesthesiology!
